The five year old son of Shadow Play headed into the Cup on a four race win streak and started an odds on favourite.

Jumping straight to the front, Shadow Sax never gave his backers any cause for concern as he sprinted home in 57.8 to win comfortably.

The former star juvenile has been in stellar form since his return from injury. He is quickly rising up the pacing ranks in Victoria and if he stays sound then his win streak continue to get larger and larger.

Bred and race by Russell and Pam Hockham, Shadow Sax is a son of the Armbro Operative mare Miss Saxony.

Alabar will be preparing a full brother to Shadow Sax for the 2018 Melbourne APG yearling sale on behalf of Liz Birnie.
