The Award winning son of Artsplace, Sportswriter, sired some impressive winners over the past weekend.
Heading the list was the Mattie Craven trained and driven three year old Crime Writer, who looked impressive in defeating some smart colts such as Out To Play, Jesse Duke and Always Fast in his heat of the Breeders Crown.
This win took his earnings to $81,310 as he heads towards a red hot clash with three year old boys in the Breeders Crown on 24th August.
The three year old filly Madam Annie racked up her seventh career win and more importantly took a new record of 1.55.1 in winning at Wagga last Friday afternoon.
She was bred and is raced by Caroline Albers from her John Street North mare Madame Lily.
Sportswriter has enjoyed much of his success over Cam fella line mares and Madam Annie is another example.
Albion Park on Saturday night was the venue for another impressive performance by a Sportswriter female. The lightly raced four year old Ballerina Couru (nine starts) recorded her fourth career win in defeating another Sportswriter filly in Write About Lexy.
She only commenced her racing career about 10 months ago so there can only be good times ahead for her and her owner Donna McKinnis.
Sportswriter is having his best season ever in the Southern Hemisphere with Australian earnings of $3,534,470 (to 13th August) and he only has four living Stallions ahead of him on the Australian Sires List.
