Maczaffair wins WA Oaks

Maczaffair proved just how special a filly she is with a record breaking win in the WA Oaks at Gloucester Park on Friday night. (Watch Replay)

The daughter of Mach Three started a prohibitive $1.10 favourite and she did not disappoint.

Shannon Suvaljko sent her straight to the front and proceeded to turn the race into a dead-set staying test.

The whole race was run at a quick tempo and as they rounded the home bend Maczaffair broke the field open and sprinted clear.

Coming home in 28.7, she won by over two lengths in 1:56.9 - breaking the previous race record of 1:57 which was held by Dodolicious.

For Maczaffair this was her tenth win from twenty one starts and takes her lifetime earnings to $234,650.

Bred by Alabar NZ, the daughter of Mach Three and the Presidential Ball mare Presidential Affair, Maczaffair was sold as a weanling to Greg Payne for $11,000.

Alabar NZ will sell a Sunshine Beach half brother to Maczaffair at the up coming Auckland All Age and Weanling Sale at Karaka on Sunday the 21st of May 2017.
