Jack Mac wins Group 1 Pearl Classic

Jack Mac wins Group 1 Pearl Classic

Jack Mac could simply not have been any more impressive when taking out the Group One Pearl Classic at Gloucester Park last Friday night.

The son of Mach Three started a long odds on favourite and never gave his backers any cause for concern.

He began safely and was able to settle in the breeze outside of Warriors Code (Elsu) who led from barrier one.

The first half was cut out in 59.6 before Jack Mac put on the afterburners and zoomed to the front down the back straight.

Rock Me Over (Rock N Roll Heaven) chased him hard but in the end Jack Mac was just too good and he won by 10.4 metres from Rock Me Over.

Highroller Joe (Roll With Joe) closed really well from last at the bell to finish third.

Jack Mac's time of 1:55.1 destroyed the previous stakes record of 1:57.9!

Bred by Alabar NZ, Jack Mac was purchased by the Howlett's (Barry, Lynley and Jimmy) at the 2015 Auckland All Age and Weanling Sale for $21,000.

He has now had nine starts for four wins and has earnings of $102,199.
