Incredible Weekend for progeny of Sportswriter

The progeny of Sportswriter had an incredible weekend in Canada both on the track and in the sales ring.

At Mohawk on Saturday night he sired the trifecta in the $225,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final for two year old pacing colts and geldings.

Western Passage took out the rich final for trainer Casie Coleman defeating Jimmy Freight and Sports Legend.

Interestingly all three placegetters are out of Western Hanover or Western Hanover line mares.

This was the second win for Western Passage during an interrupted season for him. He will now however head to the Breeders Crown eliminations this coming weekend.

Off the track and in the sales ring Sportswriter sired the top priced lot at the London Selected Yearling Sale.

A colt out of the McArdle mare Macapelo Rose sold for $220,000. Macapelo Rose is a grand daughter of the star New Zealand mare Tupelo Rose.

Sportswriter continues to have a great season in Canada and is once again be the leading Ontario Sires Stakes stallion.
