Field Marshal joins elite company

By capturing the 4yo Emerald at Cambridge on Saturday, Field Marshal joined an elite group of horses that have won the Emerald, NZ Messenger and the Taylor Mile in the one season.

Prior to Saturday on Christen Me and Auckland Reactor has completed the feat. Field Marshal changed that in 113.1 seconds on Saturday.

Drawing barrier one, the son of Art Major was able to hold the front and from there Dexter Dunn allowed him to run along.

Field Marshal ran through the first half in 57.2, before sprinting home in 55.9 to get the win.

Titan Banner (Art Major) ran a great race to make up a lot of ground and finish third.

For Field Marshall this was his third Group One victory in a row and completes a great four year old season which saw him win nine of eleve starts and earn $248,733.

Field Marshal is trained by Tim Butt who of course also trained his dam - the great Foreal.

Syd and Shona Brown raced Foreal and they are now enjoying her career as broodmare.

Field Marshal is her second foal and second $100,000+ earner.
