After burning off the gate, the son of Majestic Son settled three back on the pegs.
Getting clear running room at the top of the home straight, Eyre I Come really knuckled down and sprinted strongly.
Inch by inch he ran down the leader Wilma’s Mate and in the shadows of the post he hit the front to win.
The mile rate of 1:59.1 was slick and also an overall New Zealand record.
It was tenth win of Eyre I Come’s career and bumped his earnings to $143,224.
Bred by Daryl Brown, Eyre I Come is now raced by Merv and Meg Butterworth along with Grant Hatton and is trained by Mark Jones.
He is the first live foal of the four-time winning Sundon mare Landora Special.
