Eamon Maguire Reigns Supreme

Eamon Maguire confirmed his standing as one of the very best three year olds in New Zealand with an easy win in the Group Two Southern Supremacy Stakes at Invercargill on Sunday. (Watch Replay)

After settling near the rear of the field, Eamon Maguire (Art Major) made a mid race move to sit in the breeze.

Going down the back the final time he forged to the front and simply cruised to a four and a half length win over Mongolian Storm (Courage Under Fire), with Whittaker (Sportswriter) finishing a nice third after being dragged back through the field.

For Eamon Maguire this was his first start since finishing third in the Group One New Zealand Derby.

He has been a model of consistency throughout his career recording eight wins and four placings from twelve starts for $75,005 in earnings.

Bred by Ray and Diana Kennedy, Eamon Maguire is the second foal of the In The Pocket mare Kim Maguire - she a grand daughter of the famous broodmare Chaangerr.
