Chase Auckland bounced back to the winners circle with a record breaking win in the Group 1 Northern Derby last Friday night.
Coming off the first defeat of his career, Chase Auckland began as favourite and delivered a strong win to his legion of owners.
The win also means that Auckland Reactor has sired a Derby winner from his very first crop - quite the achievement!
After sitting three wide for the first 1000 metres, Chase Auckland worked forward to find the lead and from there he was never headed.
Sprinting home in 56.6, he comfortably held off his stablemate Sicario, with Sheriff back in third.
The overall time was 3:16.8 - which sliced 0.2 of a second off the seven year old New Zealand 2700 metre three year old record which was held previously by Sushi Sushi.
Chase Auckland was bred by Tony and Anne Parker and is out of their Falcon Seelster mare Delicata.
