Chase Auckland continued his rise yesterday when taking out the Group 1 New Zealand Sires Stakes Final with consummate ease.
The son of Auckland Reactor was following closely in his father's footsteps as he also won the Sires Stakes Final - remarkably both did it at their fifth start.
Chase Auckland drew the inside of the back row behind King Of Swing and it was either going to be a brilliant draw or a terrible one.
When David Butcher led with King Of Swing and rebuffed all challenges for the lead it was clear the draw was going to be brilliant.
With Chase Auckland enjoying a great trip he was always going to be hard to beat and that's how it turned out.
Under only mild urging by Natalie Rasmussen, Chase Auckland shot through along the sprint lane and quickly ran away from the field.
Running his last quarter in 26.57 he won by two and three quarter lengths in a new all age New Zealand record of 1:52.2.
Chase Auckland is now undefeated in five starts and looks to something quite special.
Auckland Reactor is now currently sitting second on the New Zealand Three Year Old Sires Premiership and third on the Australian version.
