“Best of both worlds” – the saying might just have been written to describe our new trotting stallion, Luxury As.
Luxury As was a sensation in the white hot competition of European trotting winning Group 1 races at two, three and four.
He was Sweden’s Two and Three Year Old Trotter of the Year.
Unbeaten at two, Luxury As went on to trot 1:55.3f as a three year old, smashing the great Viking Kronos’ European record for a five-eighths track.
Luxury As retired to stud with a record of 52 starts for 25 wins, 4 seconds and three thirds. He won Breeders Crowns at both two and three plus the eliminations and finals of three other Group 1 events.
Luxury As is a wonderful individual standing 16’ and, in the words of his European advertising had “awesome gait and precocious high speed”.

When working out what mares should cross well with Luxury As it important that we look at what has already worked and also follow what has worked for Dream Vacation and Sundon (two stallions from the same sireline as Luxury As).
Ted Blagul (Luxury As' best son to date) is out of a mare with lots of Star's Pride, Axworthy, Volomite and Scotland blood. That would make you think that Luxury As would cross well with a lot of our older trotting blood (especially in NZ) - mares with stallions in the pedigree like Game Pride, Great Evander, U Scott, Light Brigade etc.
Also especially interesting, the 5th dam of Ted Blagul is the grandam of Chiola Hanover. That Luxury As has crossed well with this family would make you think he should cross well with Chiola Hanover mares.
What's more, Chiola Hanover mares have been a great source of top horses for Sundon (Martina H, Allegro Agitato, Galleons Sunset etc). The Ultimate Galleon is a very good horse bred on the Dream Vacation / Chiola Hanover cross.
Obviously the Speedy Crown blood of Gee Whiz, Pernod Eden, son and daughters of Royal Prestige etc. Real Deal Yankee is a top young trotter in NZ bred on the Dream Vacation / Royal Prestige mare cross.
Sierra Kosmos mares - Queen Serene is a world record holder bred on the Dream Vacation / Sierra Kosmos cross.
Daughters of Earl should also cross well - the Dream Vacation / Balanced Image cross has been successful as has the Earl / Sundon cross.
Other sources of good Dream Vacations in North America have out of mares with Valley Victory blood close up. This should work especially well with Luxury As - he is out of a mare by ABC Freight and that line has also crossed very well with the Valley Victory line.
