1:49 - $224,740. Brown Horse, Foaled 2005, 15.3 Hands.
There would be very few breeders around the world who would want to debate the fact that Artsplace and Western Hanover have been the two champion pacing
sires of the past fifteen years.
So if you owned a mare called Trulyawork Of Art, by Artsplace, why wouldn’t you breed her to Western Hanover. This is exactly what Kentuckiana farms planned in
2004, to produce a beautiful colt in March 2005 – now named Tiz A Masterpiece.
The tall brown colt is now in quarantine awaiting export to Alabar’s Echuca farm in readiness for the 2009 stud season. He will enter Australia with a 1:49 record taken as a three year old and prize money of $224,730.
Tiz A Masterpiece qualified as a late two year old at The Red Mile but did not race at two. His racing career commenced in May as a three year old with
his defining win coming a the Meadowlands in the $210,000 Oliver Wendell Holmes.
Three of Trulyawork Of Art's first four foals have taken sub 1:54 records and have won between them more than half a million dollars.
Trulyawork Of Art is a daughter of one of the Stud Book gems, the Big Towner mare Town Sweetheart, who in 1997 she won the O’Brien Award for Broodmare of the
Year.
- Winner of the Oliver Wendall Holmes in 1:49.
- By one of the all time great sires in Western Hanover - Sire of the winners of over $152 million.
- By Western Hanover out of an Artsplace mare - the same cross at Western Terror and 2009’s hottest 3yo Well Said 1:47.6 - $1,914,627.
- He is Beautifully bred on his maternal side as well as his dam has a perfect record with 3 $100,000 earners from 3 foals 3yo & over. While his 2nd dam is the 1997 Canadian Broodmare of the Year in Town Sweetheart - Dam of 10 winners, incl 3 $500,000 earners.
- His full brother Big Bad John is now a stakewinning, 1:54 2yo.
Tiz A Masterpiece will stand his second stud season in 2010/11.
Tiz A Masterpiece is bred on the very successful cross of Western Hanover over an Artsplace mare, so when figuring out what sort of mares might suit him it makes sense to look at what has suited Western Hanover and his successful siring sons, eg Western Ideal, Western Terror, etc.
We believe Tiz A Masterpiece will be greatly suited to Direct Scooter line mares as this sort of cross has been extremely successful in North America resulting in such horses as Rocknroll Hanover, Shadow Play, American Ideal, Rustler
Hanover, Georgia Pacific, Western Cyclone, etc. Downunder Direct Scooter line stallions include
In The Pocket,
Christian Cullen,
Mach Three,
Courage Under Fire, Stoneridge Scooter,
Ok Bye,
Deal Direct,
Direct Flight.
Tiz A Masterpiece should also suit Abercrombie line mares.
This cross has been so successful with Western
Hanover and Western Ideal. As Tiz A Masterpiece is out of an Artsplace mare, any Abercrombie line mare bred to him will result in a foal bred with a nicely positioned double up of Abercrombie.
The Cam Fella line has also been a bit of a favourite of Western Ideal (Western Hanover out of an Abercrombie mare) with
such examples being Breeders Crown winner Calgary Hanover out of a
Presidential Ball mare and Armbro Deuce coming from a Cams Card Shark
mare.
Such Cam Fella line stallions to have stood in Australia and New Zealand include Fake Left, Armbro Operative, Bettors Delight, Presidential Ball, Precious Bunny, Pacific Fella, Camtastic, Cameleon, Brioso Hanover, Lucky Cam and Exotic Earl.
Falcon Seelster mares have crossed well with Western Ideal
(eg Dawn Ofa New Day, Ideal News, etc) and I would expect them to do
the same with Tiz A Masterpiece.
As with all sons of Western Hanover, owners of Walton Hanover mares should consider Tiz A Masterpiece as the mating would
give the resultant foal a 4 x 3 cross to the influential mare Wendy Sue Hanover.
