1:48.8 - $3,273,217. Bay Horse, Foaled 1999, 16 hands.
Art Major is showing everyone in the harness racing world that he is the likely successor to his famous father Artsplace.
In 2007 Art Major became the first son of the great Artsplace to lead the USTA 2yo Sires Premiership – Artsplace did it himself with his first crop to race in 1996.
From Art Major’s first crop has come the richest 2yo pacer in 2007 Santanna Blue Chip and now the World Record breaking 3yo colt Art Official 1:47.
His first Australian crop have now raced and he has not disappointed breaking Fake Left's long standing 2yo Prizemoney Record.
• Voted both 3yo Pacing Colt of the Year and Aged Pacing Horse of the Year.
• The richest son of one of harness racing’s greatest sires Artsplace.
• Sire of the World Champion Art Official.
• Set new Australian 2yo Prizemoney Record with his first crop.
Book Full and Closed for 2009/10.
Art Major's first crop of 2yo's took all before them and while he crossed with many different broodmare sirelines, some patterns are stating to emerge.
As with most Artsplace stallions Art Major is crossing well with mares by
No Nukes and
Cam Fella line stallions.
Six of his top fifteen earners were out of No Nukes line mares including the hugely talented
Renaissance Man.
No Nukes line stallions include
Safely Kept, Village Jasper,
Live Or Die,
Caprock,
Badlands Hanover,
Ticket To Heaven,
Barnett Hanover,
Union Guy,
Kinney Hanover,
Northern Lights, etc.
Four of his top fifteen earners were out of Cam Fella line mares including two out of
Fake Left mares (
For A Reason &
Major Bronski) and two out of
Armbro Operative mares (
Art Shadow &
Its My Pleasure)
Cam Fella line stallions include
Fake Left,
Armbro Operative,
Bettors Delight,
Presidential Ball,
Precious Bunny,
Pacific Fella,
Camtastic,
Cameleon,
Brioso Hanover,
Exotic Earl, etc.
I would also add that any mare by a
Most Happy Fella line mare would find Art Major appealing as the Artsplace / Most Happy Fella cross has been so successful the world over.
Of note is that two of Art Major's top fifteen performer downunder are out of
Talk About Class mares in
Master Joy &
Shes Norma Jean. So any mare that possesses
Talk About Class in her pedigree is worth considering for Art Major.
It is also worth noting that Art Major has demonstrated a liking for the "outcross" type mares. His best performer in Australia was the 2yo Filly of the Year in
Lady Euthenia who is out of a
Maple Lanes Strike mare. While also his richest performer in America,
Art Official, and his third richest performer in Australia,
Lilac Stride, are both out of
Falcon Seelster mares.
In America Art Major has also demonstrated a liking for mares by Matts Scooter with his richest earner Santanna Blue Chip being bred on this cross. Of course the Direct Scooter line has been very successful down here through
In The Pocket,
Christian Cullen and
Mach Three so any mares by these stallions should suit Art Major.
Interestingly Art Major has had also had a fair amount of success with
Albert Albert and
Pacific Rocket mares. 2 of his top 7 American earners are out of Albert Albert mares and he has left a New York Sires Stakes 2yo division winner this season out of a Pacific Rocket mare.
Of course Art Major’s full brother Perfect Art enjoyed great success here before his untimely death so we can learn from him. Looking at the dams of his 20 $100,000 earners, 6 are by sons of Albatross, 4 are by sons or grandsons of Most Happy Fella, 3 are by Fake Left, 3 are by sons or grandsons of No Nukes, 2 are by Golden Greek, 1 is by Land Grant and 1 is by Maple Lanes Strike.
